Platinum Suite v1.5
11-25-05
Canipus Graphics

These shades are enhancements (possibly?) and fine tunings of the wonderful original Silver shade by bit using ideas from other shade contributors and one or two unique fresh concepts by C a n i p u s.

If you downloaded the Platinum Suite before 3.00am 11-25-05 then you've got an earlier version.
This version (v1.5) has a couple of bugs fixed plus a totally new concept for the easy identification of the AUX sends when viewing all the channel panels such as F11 with the Z mixer. If you're not using the full version of SAWStudio then this enhancement won't affect you so much but you still may find it makes AUX channel number identification easier when scrolling up the E mixer. The concept is based on using an illuminated numeric LED window for the AUX send channel rather than the traditional screen printed legend on the panel. AFAIK this is the first shade to use this concept. I like it because I see advantages to it when working under pressure where you need fast acquisition of screen data. That area of the mixer panel is very busy with buttons and panel lights and I've often wondered about how to make it easier to id quickly which AUX channel I want.

My shades are free and other shade developers are free to build on these ideas and utilise my ideas and graphics.
The only restriction I place on other developers is if they utilise some ideas that are unique and were developed by me; then they give me credit for originating the concept.... mentioned in despatches etc.etc. This applies to the AUX channel lit numeric LED indicator contained in the Platinum Suite.

If you're wondering about the 5 in v1.5 then there were 5 previous versions of the Platinum Suite all uploaded within the last 48 hours. The changes on the previous versions were minimal apart from this one.

The Platinum Suite ( three shades ) are now FINISHED (no more changes - unless you find some blatent error like something mislabelled.)

Many of the shades are using different colours to the original for the bar graph channel metering. The colors adopted by me are based on REAL hardware engineering requirements by working parties involving (among others), the engineering departments of the British Broadcasting Corporation and German Broadcasting authority. The choices of colors is derived from readability tests of meters under different ambient lighting. The meter colors used in the Platinum Suite do not follow this scheme rigidly but do at least in some part follow the engineering tests at the BBC. The Platinum Suite uses three of the five colors.

Canipus shades are tested many times under all three versions of SAWStudio for long extended periods checking for eye fatigue and anything that impacts concentration.
I consider them ergonomic shades. Every shade that has been released by me is the result of ten times that number being rejected as being unuseable after more than a few hours.
If the virtual panels do not end up looking like real mixer panels, the design and/or color scheme gets rejected.

The graphics are developed on a NOKIA 445Xpro 21" graphics art monitor.
